Lackey just lost a no-hitter against the Red Sox with one out in the ninth.

Ivan Rodriguez from the Tigers to the Yankees for Kyle Farnsworth? mick, are the Tigers waving the white flag?

Teixeira to Anaheim. Braves sold him cheaply, but are done this year and wouldn't have been able to resign him after the season anyway.

Well that's interesting, but not the end of the world.
Pudge obviously was the leader in putting Detroit back on the baseball map, but he has no power and has lost his arm (prolly pretty much the same as Farnsworth).
We dunno what goes on in the clubhouse, but we do know that Inge stayed in town to become a full time catcher eventhough he is such a remarkable third sacker.
I think sending Pudge to New York (in his last year of contract) allows the Tigers to get rid of him without embarassing themselves next year in contract performance clauses that Pudge will probably not be able to meet.

White Flag ? Doubtful from U.P. here.

And thanks, I didn't know that!

Astute observations imo. The only thing that I'd disagree with is that Farnsworth has lost his arm. He can still throw the ball 100 mph. It's his head that doesn't keep up. Get him out of NY though and he might be just the full-time closer that the Tigers need. Yankee fans despised him and that might have been part of his problems.

This is one of the few trades that makes sense for both teams on paper. Pudge helps NY offensively in the catcher slot. Farnsworth might be the answer to at least some of the Tiger's bullpen problems. Farmswoth was in his last year too and it was very doubtful that the Yankees were gonna resign him next year either.

How about Griffey, Jr. to the White Sox?

Why? Do the Sox need someone to put on the bench?

Good question.

Looks like a good deal for Griffey (a shot at the WS, especially if Manny goes to Florida) and the Reds (no matter who they get). I just don't see what the Sox get out of it. He's already hit 600, so he's pretty much out of milestones.

M&M Guy Thu Jul 31, 2008 09:18am

One of the writers said there may be more teams in the deal, since the White Sox are looking for pitching as well.

I wonder if it will be one of those 3-ways. (Not that there's anything wrong with that...)
