While we are talking about $$$ How much do you make?

I know that this topic has been covered in the past, but I am curious to know the avg. rates around the country. I will state that I live in the SW corner of Minnesota and I work 50-60 nights of Varsity basketball a year, both boys and girls. On average we earn around 90.00-100.00 a night for doing 2 games a night during the regular season. The rates apply for both 2 man and 3 man. Most of our games are done with 2, but 3 is becoming more and more common. When the playoffs arrive we are paid 75.00-85.00 for one game and mileage pay is included, which is 0.50 a mile. I know that this isnt something that we are going to get rich at, but was curious to know with the increase in gas prices around the country are you guys raising your rates? Thanks

St. Louis, MO area
Varsity 3 person $60
Varsity 2 person $66
JV/V doubleheader about $95
Not sure about the lower level but I would guess it is in the neighborhood of $45 a game.

None of the schools in the metro area pay any travel expenses.

If you get outside of the St. Louis metro area the fees drop off and most of the games are two person. However some schools do pay mileage.

Houston Varsity depends.

Its anywhere from 55 to 95 depending on where the school is in relation to Houston.

26 Year Gap Fri Mar 07, 2008 09:40pm

VT Varsity $55 plus mileage at IRS rate less assignment fee of $2
JV/Frosh $35 plus mileage at most schools
same rate for 3 man at varsity level

Some consideration is being given to the NH model.

Just got done working a small class Section Final in Minnesota and had to drive 140 miles round trip.....made 85.00 to work the game and got 70.00 on top of that for mileage.....add it all up it was a 155.00 night. Not bad nights work....we had over 3,000 people in the stands that got their moneys worth....what an adrenaline rush. Ive been working these games the last 10 years in this area, the winner goes on to represent this part of the state in the Minnesota State High School League Basketball Tournament. What an atmosphere it doesnt get much better than this at the high school level....my ears are still ringing.

I found a 6th grade boys league that pays $50 per game with no parent problems!:) I turn down school games for these sometimes.
