I guess that the editor is on vacation.

"With his wife Katie looking on Dale Wakasugi hugged and thanked Leslie Geving, one the people who help[ed] save his left back in December when [he] suffered a heart attack, before Tuesday night's game."

Unfortunately, they weren't able to save his right.

I had to read that paragraph a couple times to get it.
