Steve Welmer Drinking Game

Watching Michigan/Michigan State on TV, and thinking about the Steve Welmer Drinking Game. (take a shot of liquor every time Welmer adjusts the waistband of his pants.) I know for sure, I"d be passed out before half time!

I have a guy that I'm helping mentor in the Intramural league I help supervisor who is a huge Michigan State fan. I told him I'd watch this game with him so we could talk a little about some of the mechanics. Little did I know Welmer was working. I made sure to tell him that the Welmer pants pull is not an approved mechanic.

Another case point made for belted slacks.

Welmer has dropped some weight, so he only does it every other trip down the court now.

Used to be he'd run, stop, tug in back, tug in front, tug in back for good measure.

Of course now he's battling it out with Ted Valentine to see who can have the biggest, whitest Nike swoosh on their shoes.

Still did it at least once per minute of running time. THat's enough to put almost anyone under the table!

How many off-camera pants-tugs are there for every one that is shown?

I must admit that I'm guilt of this. Boys JV/V double header Friday night I was adjusting them every time up and down the floor, sometimes more than once. It was at a school with some pretty hostile fans and I'm lucky nobody noticed it. I've lost quite a bit of weight since the beginning of the season when my pants fit just a hair too loose, but tight enough that I didn't need to go down to a 38. But now after two months of games I finally ordered a pair of 38s on Tuesday.

Did you see the funny little travel/double dribble mechanic about 5 minutes in? I hope you told your mentee NOT to do it that way!

I think I remember what you're talking about, and I think that's the point where I told him that when he had a D1 contract, he could do that, but for now, he was to abstain.

Bad apart about this, I am guilty of the "Welmer pants pull up" also. Tried going to the elastic waistband, but with no back end, it just feels like it keeps dropping. Am going back to the belted for next season. Only have a couple of games left. Did have one coach jokingly tell me at half time of a game that he didnt realize he had Welmer working tonight. Partner and I both laughed.

Rain - our favorite "pants-puller" is certainly living up to his reputation in this game!

PS - as are some others also have alluded to, I am guilty of this too, but I can not come close to this......
