D1 Fees by Conference

The Big Ten is around 1,200 and I think the SEC gets 1,000

While I can't give your anything concrete, it's my understanding some conferences (for example the MVC) work on the tier level, the higher the tier one is on, the more pay.

I don't think anyone can give you that information. I know everyone can't give it. No one probably has all of the information, but my guess is that someone only has part of the information.

I hope not I did my first college doubleheader and first college men's game last night. None of the men's officials showed up for the game (had to be assignor error), so our crew ended up staying and doing the game. Nice paycheck for the night, but personally I think we as a crew could've had a better game.

Title IX has to do with women having equal opportunity in sports.

It has nothing to do with officials' compensation for officiating those games. Officials are not college athletes. It has nothing to do with coaches' compensation. Coaches aren't college athletes.

I do know that from the officiating side of the line that the pay isn't the same @ the DI level.

However @ the High school level once Title IX hit, High Schools had to raise the compensation of their girls sports coaches to match the boys sports coaches.

Title IX DOES pertain to coaches' compensation. In fact, I believe that the Title IX regulations specifically include and address the compensation of coaches - Title IX requires "equivalent" compensation, but not necessarily identical compensation. The theory is that if a school pays a women's team coach $1,000 and the men's team coach $100,000, the female student athletes are not going to have an equal opportunity to benefit from quality coaching.

I suppose that a similar argument could be made for officials, but that would be a far greater stretch as officials play a far less significant role in student athletes' equal opportunity.

Those fees have changed drastically from what I understand. I know that many conferences have gone to a tier system based on experience or ability. I know many of the smaller conferences have done this. I head this summer that the Horizon League paid around $2000 for the big timers like Welmer, Hightower, O'Neil, or Hillary. Then a middle of the road official might make about $1200 and a newer official might make about $800. Of course all of that includes travel and hotel expenses. I am sure the Big Ten pays these guys much more. So I think the pay scale has changed a bit since those numbers were around a few years ago.
