strange mechanics or not
Have an official in area who, when doing 10 second count, gives a mini foul signal when dribbler crosses division line. Although a relatively new official, she tends to use college women's mechanics blended in with a few odd signals.
Is the a mechanic from a place far, far away? Never have seen it done anywhere. I'm just askin' |

Oh, wait, a closed fist to the side? Yea, I've seen that in women's college. it's at the end of any visible count to signify that the Rubicon has been crossed, so to speak. |

And Juulie, that's not a mechanic for Women's ball as the only real counts we have are the 5 second closely guarded on a held ball and 5 second to pass the ball inbounds...if someone is using that, they are making up their own mechanics...we do sometimes use the fist out to the side to let our crew know we have a media time-out coming at the next dead ball. |

I've seen this done at local high school games by a few older officials, and at WCC men's games by a small percentage of officials.
I think it looks pretty goofy. (No offense intended to the previous poster.) |
