The best description of the NBA (IMO) came from Keith Glass, an NBA agent, on how he got Mark Eaton from UCLA a pro contract even though he barely played in college. (Paraphrased to the best of my recollection.)

The GM he was negotiating with said, "Why would we want Mark Eaton?"

Glass asked in return, "What's wrong with his game?"

The GM replied, "He's always in foul trouble, and every time he touches the ball on offense, he travels."

Glass: "Well, they don't call fouls in the NBA and they don't call travelling."

Eaton went on to have a long and lucrative NBA career.
