One man's perception of the game
From comedian Stephen Colbert's book, "I Am America (And So Can You)":
"Basketball: We invented basketball, and it has become so popular that we've developed two versions of it: the college, or "classic", version of the game, in which rules are followed and at most above-average athletes can excel; and the NBA version of the game, in which 7-foot-tall monster freaks leap about on trampolines while swinging their massive elbows like cudgels and running four steps without dribbling before taking off from their opponent's foul line to slam dunk." Sounds about right to me. What do you think? |
Well, to be a l'il more accurate, the NBA has got some six-foot guys who swing their elbows like cudgels and run four steps without dribbling too.
|
Oh, way to go Mark! I got the book for X-Mas and now you ruined it for me!
Next you'll post the plot and how it ends! |
Sounds typical for Colbert to me.

The GM he was negotiating with said, "Why would we want Mark Eaton?" Glass asked in return, "What's wrong with his game?" The GM replied, "He's always in foul trouble, and every time he touches the ball on offense, he travels." Glass: "Well, they don't call fouls in the NBA and they don't call travelling." Eaton went on to have a long and lucrative NBA career. |
I also recall Mark Eaton was 7'+ and you can certainly play for a long time at that height in the NBA - regardless of your talent.......or lack there of!

Ahem; Someone should tell Stephen Colbert that Dr. Naismith was a CANADIAN.
Just wanted to stir the pot a bit. |
