Wristbands above the elbow -- NCAA

Ok, do NCAA rules prohibit the wearing of wristbands above the elbow? I do not see anything in the rulebook to prohibit it. There is no case play in the case book. However, I have been told from "very high up" (and I don't mean my D3 assignor) that the rule is the same as the NFHS rule.

Anyone help me out?

No, not yet.

First you have to explain what you mean by the above.

I'd rather not. It's not an assignor, but it's a very high profile official whose comments about the rules should not be disregarded lightly.

So you've come here to disregard them after some serious dialogue and thought?

Good luck.

If you don't know the answer, just say so.

I've come here because I want to know if I've missed something obvious in the rulebook or casebook before I go to him for a clarification.

I haven't seen anything in black & white related to this or a bulletin with this interpretation.

Fwiw, I didn't see anything on the women's side.

I just said I didn't see anything on their sides. That's probably because I wasn't focused on their sides.

Maybe your "higher up" is interpreting that wristbands should be worn on the wrist. I know, crazy concept.... but.... To answer your question literally, I have never seen an NCAA rule or interp that says that wristbands have to be worn below the elbow.

Ah, but the obvious implication was that you focused on their sides long enough to check for instructions.

They're there if you focus hard enough: Machine wash warm. Wash dark colors separately. Tumble dry. Do not iron.

Just got a clarification this morning from the "higher up". He thought the question was about "livestrong" type wrist bands; and obviously that rule is the same for NFHS and NCAA.

So the final answer appears to be that there is no rule in NCAA that requires wristbands to be worn below the elbow.
