In 1960, he was 3rd in the Cy Young voting, and 9th in the NL MVP voting, ahead of such names as Eddie Matthews, Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Maury Wills, and Frank Robinson. Even as late as '63 he was 18-8 with a 2.99 ERA. And, at the time of the trade, the most bases Lou Brock ever stole in a season was 24. Hindsight is always 20-20. Just ask the guy that added Appalachian State on the Michigan schedule.
