I started in January of this year and managed to do about 90 games so far. I did that by volunteering at the local YMCA and keeping eyes and ears open for any spring/summer tournaments. Usually your assigner or other vet officials will know when they are coming around. I was surprised at how many there were. Some on this forum will disagree but, something that really helped me was doing a couple of the adult rec league tourneys. It isn’t my favorite crowd, but defiantly helped my confidence with the HS games and gave me a much different perspective of officiating as opposed to JH and grade school kids. In a nut shell, I would recommend reffing anything you can find and be willing work without pay.
