I tried calling the International Date Line, but it was $3.99/ minute, billed discreetly as IDL

I'm not cheating either (this time...), but I believe Hawaii is the furthest south, Alaska is both the furthest north and west, and Maine is the furthest east.

How'd I do?

Alaska is also the farthest East.

(Answers for USA states only) - FIBA does not apply.

Isn't it all east of the Int'l Date Line? Or was I asleep for part of my geography class?

Adam Fri Jul 06, 2007 01:18pm

Bob's right, there are a few islands west of the dateline, making them the furthest east.

If he is refering to the Aluetion (sp?) Islands, I do believe they still are not across the international timeline.

I tried to name them, but it turns out someone else already had. ;)

The one I know (I think) is "Attu" -- it's a common crossword puzzle answer.

Adam Fri Jul 06, 2007 01:58pm

That would be Attu island, more specifically.

Bless you.

I knew the entire chain was called the Aleutian Islands, but I agree with Coach P that I was also under the impression the entire chain was east of the Int'l Date Line.

Thanks Snaqs.

That's what I get for agreeing with a coach. You think I would know better by now... :p :D

West of???

CoachP Fri Jul 06, 2007 02:47pm

Our warehouse has a 4 foot by 5 foot Hammond World map. According to that, the timeline is jagged and Attu Island is on the right side of that line.

I need a weekend. These long, two days without a day off can be a killer.

Thanks, coach - I'll work harder next time. ;)
