Well, it happened to me Saturday. Coach who I didn't know
took a few steps out to ask me (at lead bench side) about a
call. I walked over to him, smile on my face, put my hand
on his shoulder to turn him around & get him back to the
bench. "Coach, it's like this..." sez I. "Take your
hands off me! I don't put my hands on you!" sez he.
Whoa. Of course your thread came to me immediately,
and I kept my composure long enough to tell him 3 things:

- Don't play with me like that, I don't like it.
- Get off the floor now
- You have my ruling. White ball, emphatic point down court.

I then turned right around and put the ball back in play.
Coach went to the bench & sat.

Man was I pissed. But having thought about this sitch
beforehand in detail let me act in a decisive way when it
happened to me. It's not often we get to learn something
and then apply it in the real world almost immediately!

Talking

Dan,
Glad to hear my suffering prevented yours!;-)
My game Friday night had 1 single tech, 2 double techs,
and 3 double fouls! One of the double techs, required us to get into the fray and separate the players. So what did I do? Grabbed a player from behind. (seems to me I said I wouldn't ever do that!?) Player was cool about it though.
A JV official watching the game asked me if I was "allowed" to grab a player like that. I just said that anytime you have the potential for a fight, you do what you can to stop it. Greatfully it worked out this time.
Neither coach had any problems with the "T"s, double fouls etc.
In fact the home coach thanked us afterwards for controlling the game, even though it was ugly.

Drake where were you at?
I called at T on the varsity coach in the JV game because we enforced the rule that all jerseys had to be the same color on the floor.

Kelvin,
North Sanpete at Grantsville.
Where were you?
And unless the uni's were drastically different,
why the "T". Not criticizing, just curious.

They were all black except he wanted two red. (remind you of rec ball) I had talked with our president about it because we had the same problem a couple of weeks ago with the same team. and was told I had done the right thing. ( We told them they could wear black-tshirts, and tried to be as accomodating as we could.) The varisty guy yelled out atme twice. Youre a joke, Youre a joke! I figured that was personal enough to warrant a T.
BTW I called UHSAA and talked with Jerry. The uniform enforcement was the correct call, but apparently there have been some issues at a couple of other schools. He said he is going to the executive board to see if they want the rule relaxed.

Hey, I would take three Red and two Black in rec ball.
How about some nights when none of the rec guys have uni's?
"Foul on Budweiser T-shirt." "But there are two Bud t-shirts." "Ok, Bud t-shirt and cut-off denim shorts with a hole in the a**.
What school were you at?

Walked across the floor went way up into the stands. He tried to stay away from the floor as best as he could. So he did try not to make the situation any worse.
