Mick,

True, mick, but he probably didn't mean to go all the way back to JR's time.

Oh.

Maybe I missed it...when did they decide 1880 comes after 1980?

Well, it may or may not hold up, but so far tonight, the Sox look pretty good, and Carmona, well, not so much.

I have to get up at an ungodly hour tomorrow for my college meeting, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to stay awake till the end of this one; but I am sure that I won't be posting afterward. So I'll just say now, that I'm happy with the way the first couple innings have gone. If Schill can hold them off for another 4 innings, that'll be a big plus.

Go Sox!

Well, Dice-K didn't pitch great, but they were good enough. He never seemed to really dominate, but got them through 5. Westbrook, on the other hand, seemed to actually get better from the 4th-6th innings. He was making the Sox look bad. But Okajima was great in the 6th and 7th. Couldn't get anybody out in the 8th, but he really is a 2-inning guy, max. And Pap was lights-out for two innings when they really needed it. On the other hand, when Westbrook started to struggle (Wedge probably left him in too long), the Indians bullpen just poured gas on the fire.

Pedroia really did have a great night, when Ortiz had a bad one.

Was anybody else laughing out loud at McCarver for carping incessantly about how both teams should've had pitchers warming in the bullpen in the first inning and a half? He kept talking about 'how long are you going to leave them in when they start to struggle', and both starters went at least 5 innings. He can be such a putz sometimes.

7 down. 4 to go.

I have actaully watched some sports with the volume on mute, to avoid these goofs.

Learned that trick from a friend of mine.

Stat of the series - in each of Boston's 3 losses, the starting pitcher went 4.2 innings.

In each of Boston's 4 wins, the starting pitcher went 5.0 or more.

I'll take the Rockies in 6. Sorry, Chuck.
