Yankees score 11 runs; Sox score 2 runs. Who ended up winning last night?

We'd have been OK except for the 2 missed field goals.

Chien-Ming Wang is apparently working on a perfect game going into the top of the 6th.

Interestingly, if he does end up with a perfect game, the only other time the feat had been accomplished on Cinco de Mayo was by a no-name pitcher named Cy Young who happened to pitch for Boston at the time.

I have to wonder if you're related to the Elias of sports statistics fame.

Also, I've heard from Mets fans that Franco's age isn't quite pinned down.

Was that the stat on Espn or did they note that when France hit a homerun, that it was the oldest pitcher/hitter pair for a homerun in MLB history? Of course, both may be true.

Five and Fly: Franco's power is old news

Julio Franco – 48 years, eight months, 12 days old – homered Friday night off Randy Johnson – 43 years, seven months, 25 days old. That's more than 92 years of ballplayer right there and, unfortunately for Johnson, the fastball Franco hit sort of looked it, considering its left turn signal was on for three miles.
Franco, of course, is the oldest player to hit a home run in the major leagues, a union of gerontology and baseball that began last April 20 and has extended through two more homers, the latest at Chase Field in Phoenix. And now Johnson has a part, the two combining for the oldest home run in history, thrown-and-hit category.

On SportsCenter, they said the Johnson/Franco pairing was the oldest in regular-season history. Maybe there was a pairing of older players in an old World Series, and this is the oldest pairing to result in a home run.

Yup, announced it himself during the seventh inning stretch at the Yankees game.

So is Steinbrenner moving Yankee Stadium down to Houston, or is the rocket just going to pitch during Yanks-Rangers series?

That's gotta be a first -- a rat jumping on to a sinking ship!

This signing simply ensures that Clemens' bust in Cooperstown will have a cap with a dollar sign on it.

(And yes, I stole both those lines from The Sports Guy on espn.com )
