C'mon, it's no big deal. In fact I hear these birds are so common they don't even count in undergrad ornithology class.

Cubs-Astros game scheduled for this afternoon has already been postponed, due to "wintry conditions".

Yoo-hoo...Mr. Gore?...

This winter stuff is becoming inconvenient, true?

I heard on SportsCenter this morning that the Nationals have trailed by at least 3 runs in each game they've played so far this season. They've only won once.

Gonna be a long summer in DC.

Sox got only 1 hit last night. Let's see if they can get a game in this afternoon.

Red Sox, Mariners postponed by inclement weather
Preview - Box Score - Recap

April 12, 2007

BOSTON (AP) -- Thursday's game between the Seattle Mariners and the Boston Red Sox was postponed after a wet afternoon and a forecast of rain, sleet and snow.
The game was rescheduled for May 3 at 7:05 p.m. Seattle's May 2 night home game against the Chicago White Sox will be moved to a day game.
Thursday's scheduled starters have been pushed back a day, with Boston's Tim Wakefield (0-1) facing the Los Angeles Angels' John Lackey (2-0), and Seattle's Jarrod Washburn (0-0) facing the Texas Rangers and Kevin Millwood (1-1) on Friday.
The postponement moved Daisuke Matsuzaka's next scheduled start back a day to Tuesday in Toronto. Friday's scheduled starter, Julian Tavarez (0-1), will pitch Boston's Patriots Day game against the Angels on Monday against Joe Saunders (1-0).

Sox will need him in Toronto. They're tough.

I heard part of a fascinating interview with his widow by Bob Costas on the radio on my way to work Saturday morning. She mentioned how disappointed she was with the movie done in 1950 staring Jackie ("Jack," as she referred to him) as himself; then she noted that there's going to be another one done soon, but couldn't divulge any of the key players because negotiations are still ongoing. She said the original portrayed him as too docile and conciliatory. I'm very much looking forward to seeing that one.

There was a great exchange during ESPN's Dodgers game last night. Jackie Robinson's widow, Rachel, was in the booth and was talking about his steal of home in the World Series. She said that she and Yogi Berra don't even say hi to each other any more. When they see each other, their usual greeting is: (Yogi) "He was out", (Rachel) "He was safe, Yogi".

A quick check shows it was the first game of the '55 World Series between the Yankees and Dodgers.

I wasn't born yet; that's why I don't remember it.

That is a very funny story. I am so sorry I missed that.

Peace
