![]() It was striking to me because of what I highlighted and underlined in the OP, but whatever. |

![]() Anyway, I'm sure it's not the issue of this particular charity. It's the issue of where to draw the line, and who gets to make that decision. So, instead of someone having to approve what is allowed, and what isn't (a full-time position, with a part-time staffer needed...), they just say none at all. Makes it a lot simpler.

Except for that Cubs thingy...... Note that this isn't a problem for NCAA and NFHS sports. You just ain't gonna wear anything unless the rulesmakers have specifically OK'd it. |

![]() Well, if you meant Mark and Kerry, we don't need 'em anymore. Of course it's taken 5 years for them to figure that out. ![]()

This seems similar to me to the NFL's stance on Jake Plummer's patch in memory of Pat Tillman. He was required to remove it, even though everyone agreed that Tillman was a fine man, a brave soldier, and had the conviction to give up millions of dollars to fight for something he believed in.
The problem isn't the message. It's just about the uniform. If everybody is allowed to show off their favorite charity, the uniform is no longer uniform. I agree that it's pretty dumb that it took 15 years or whatever for them to figure that out, though. |

Just a joke! Relax! Gotta say I agree with Jeff. If MLB decides anyone can wear whatever pin they like it's only a matter of time before someone gets POed by a pin supporting lawyers, the French or even gawd forbid the metric system. A lot easier to let no one wear them than it is to decide which pins are potentially troublesome.
