Wonder if any of you guys watched the game today with MLB playing SP. The BLUES were wearing the good ole ASA but diffently were not calling illegal pitches which I understand it is a charity game and no great harm done BUT what I did notice and was suprised about is the ball players were using bats from the ASA banned bat list. Maybe they had all been RECERTIFIED but I would bet not!!
Just wondered if anybody else noticed Don |

pepsi game
I saw it, and the umpires were lax, letting things go (e.g. stepping WAY out of the box, etc.).
As for the bats, the balls were definitely lower compression(maybe 375 compression, maybe less) [actaully sounded like cork-centered mush balls], so I was surprised that I did not see any composites, which are much better for those balls especially (Ultra II, Techfire series, Genesis, etc.). They seemed to be using Easton Trishells of one kind or another for the most part (maybe they had an deal w/ Pepsi), and I know the Tri-Shell Connexion was banned and recertified (and maybe others--don't have the list handy). Also saw a Rawlings Silverback. The ball was definitely toned down, as evidenced by the low score. [Edited by Tap on Mar 1st, 2003 at 03:56 PM] |

Oh come on! they were barely stepping into the opposite batters box, how could anybody be expected to see that out and call it? Ed, where are you and your AA's when we need them? Jim |
