Wow, someone has a little too much time on their hands. Considering that I saw the end of the movie last night this post is even funnier to me right now.

Peace

You watch the History Channel, Jeff? I caught this, too, as I was flipping back and forth between UCLA/Kansas and the movie. I've seen the movie, then again, I'd seen this game before, too.
I love that final courtroom scene.

Thanks. I just got tired of seeing on TV the number of times of referees getting 2nd opinioned and questioned about their competency. I realize that it's part of the job but it seems no one ever sticks up for "us" on TV.

As referees, we may not always agree on a call or a decision by our partners but in the end, who else is gonna be on our side? Especially during the heat of the game.

And to quote my mentor: "When we hit the court, remember there are "3" teams on the floor, not 2."

Which is why, when I go to a game as a spectator, I always sit in the referees' section, even if I am the only one there.

Great Post dahoopref,
I would've never thought of rewriting that scene for basketball. Maybe if all those parents who bash officials whether table or floor read this our game would be more civilized. As a scorekeeper I have to shut up regardless of how bad the officiating is.
For those of you who will defend the CBS Studio crew's position remember one thing:They have the luxury of looking at this play on instant replay. I doubt they would call that at game speed.
