I saw one in the Tennessee game today that had me check the DVR. Pearl was going crazy at the no call right in front of him, and I checked and it sure looked like a hoppity skip, but the camera angle couldn't tell me whether he actually had control. The C obviously disagreed or didn't see whether he had control.
I thought they missed a poorly executed jump stop by TN, though, shortly after that. The two feet landed one after the other. Then again, I'm not out there making the calls, so I'll defer to them.

That whole game was poorly officiated.

I disagree. I thought it was a well-officiated game of poorly played basketball.

I have been told by partners and evaluators that I can be inconsistent in my travel calls at times, so it's something that I try very hard to pay attention to on the court. Mostly I've found it is when I'm on the baseline and watching for contact at the waist or higher...knowing this, I try to force my self to take an extra step or two farther from the line (if space permits) so that I might catch the travel if/when it happens.

It's something that I plan to continue to concentrate on during the summer AAU games; hopefully I'll be better by the time the HS season starts in the fall. Rather than be critical of the way others call traveling, I actual just take some small comfort in the fact that I'm not the only one who has trouble with this call.

Interesting thread...I was actually commenting to a couple officiating buddies that it seemed like MORE travels were being called than in previous years tournaments and they agreed...strange that the perceptions are so different.

And in another thread, you said you didn't see any officials with any courage. Seems to me over the last couple of days like you're doing a whole lot of crapping on 100 or so officials that somebody thinks are good enough to work -- not just at the D1 level -- but the championship tournament at the D1 level.

It certainly tells you a lot about his integrity as an official, doesn't it, Scrappy? Or lack thereof, I should say. Sad.
