Eligibilty Issue
This article was in our Sunday paper in these parts. Last year our state association adopted a policy that students participating in extra-curricular activities must pass all of their classes to participate. I think the intent is great, but there are still some areas that need to be addressed. For example, some of our schools are on a quarter schedule while others grade by sememster. I find it interesting in the article that all of the ineligible students are quoted that they were responsible for not doing their working and becoming ineligible.

I think students should have to participate in extra-curricular activities in order to receive passing grades in academic classes.

I applaud the schools for holding the line and doing what's right!
I attended a HS soccer parent meeting where the coach was "laying down the law" for the yr and said most of the varsity players needed to bring their grades up as many of them had "F's" and were already inelgible......before the yr started! |
