What's "Boxing Out" Mean?
A1 shoots a 10-foot jump shot. Oppenent B1 bends over at the waist, then backs up, forcing A2 out of rebounding range. The official calls a foul on B1. B1's coach argues loudly that B1 performed a "perfect boxing-out." Is the official correct?

yes
Yes the official is correct, assuming that by forcing A2 out of range there was contact..........

You cannot push a player from their position on the floor, just because you call it "boxing out." If you are legally boxing out, you are holding your position and moving your feet. You cannot cause illegal contact no matter how you do it.
Peace

I think the old box out term was to get between the defender and the basket and not allow the defender to get the rebound. I think in this day in age, players are being more displaced or pushed out of "their" spot on the floor. Remember, everyone has a right to a spot on the floor, providing the get there first legally.......
