Wisconsin has implemented a new Pre-Game warmup procedure (for Varsity games) this year, and was wondering how this compares to other states. Here it is:
Immediately after the JV or sophomore game, both officials, the head coaches and captains go to center court for the pregame conference. At the same time three minutes are put on the clock. Remainder of teams may come out, but no balls allowed on court until after the three minutes is up. After conference is done, it is suggested that rosters and lineups be turned in.(Not required, as 10 minute rule still applies.) At end of three minutes, normal 20-minute warmups start, with officials staying on the court for the duration. What do other states do, and how do you like it?

I normally go to the table at the 11-12 minute mark (just in case) and check the book, talk to the time keeper and scorer for both teams and tell them what my partner(s)and I expect. After that, I get the captains and cover a few points and then go back to the sideline. We cross to the table side at about the 2:00 minute mark, meet the coaches, and then remain on the table side until introductions are made and the national anthem is completed. Then, its time to play ball!!

required to be in the gym (not in the locker room) when the game ends, no? Or is there a mad dash to the lockers to get the teams & the officials? Seems over done to me.

Just a little clarification on Wisconsin's pre-game setup from last year.(2000-2001) When the JV game was finished, the clockkeeper put 5 minutes on the clock. No teams were allowed to enter the gym until after the 5 minutes expired. This was done mainly to allow the JV to leave and Varsity to enter, with no interaction. Apparently, there was a problem somewhere where a fight broke out between rival schools. After the 5 minutes, they would put 20 minutes up, and warmups as normal, with captains/coaches meeting at the 12-minute mark. This is what they changed for this year. Only three minutes first, with the captain/coaches meeting during this time. Seems like they were not worried about the interaction between JV and Varsity teams.
