Not the first time Old School has reset the bar.

It's right up there with "If you don't agree with me, you'll never get to do a game at a higher level".

Okay, maybe Hitler a bit of a stretch, but ESPN would still give him an award if he won this many games. You get the point. Don't know very many minorities coaches that get to keep their job for doing some of the stuff that Knight has done. It damn near took an act of god to get Indiana to release him.

Not trying to make this a racial issue, but creditability speaking. Knight should not be anymore honored for breaking this record than Barry Bonds if he breaks the record. I guess this puts ESPN in a tough position. By there nature, they would have too, whether they like it or not. It sells, so we will cover it.

No, if it's SPORTS NEWS, they will cover it. Like it or not, BK's 880 win is news. Should they ignore it because he's not everybody's choice for Man of the Year? I don't care for the guy, but what he did is newsworthy.

How about John Chaney at Temple? He sent out a goon to injure an opponent. And his player did just that. And Chaney admitted it.

Using your logic.....

Naw, forget it. I just got a headache thinking of that.

You're bringing race into something that has got nothing to do with race. That's an old trick too.

If you do not like the positions I take, then you know where the door is. I also feel a lot of people are influenced by what the media tells them whether it is about Bob Knight or the ability of officials during a particular game. If you do not like those positions, then do not post here, go away and you will never have to worry about the positions I take or the reasons I take them.

Peace

Yeah, I get the point, and it's not any less stupid than the first time you made it.

There is a key difference between Knight breaking the coaching record and Bonds breaking (maybe) the homerun record. Bonds is credibly accused of cheating in ways that are making his run at the record possible. Bonds' defense is weak. Knight, for all his image shortcomings and for all his behavior that many people find abhorrent, has never been accused of cheating.

And what's this have to do with Knights credit score?

Hold the phone big time! John Chaney was fired the next season. If it was me, it would have been the next game. I'm outraged he got to finish the season. Race got nothing to do with it. Like the guy said, it's NEWS, and unfortunately, some people that are not deserving of the coverage, get it anyway.

Well, at least you used another post to contradict yourself this time instead of doing it in the same post. You're the only one who said race was even involved in this. Get over yourself.
And Chaney wasn't fired. He was allowed to resign with dignity.

When was Don Chaney ever the coach at Temple?

Don Chaney

John Chaney retired on 3/13/2006, over a year after the February 19, 2005 goon incident.

John Chaney

Is mentioning Godwin's Law a self-fulfilling prophecy?

Right. Screwed that up. I went back and changed it.

And Don Chaney was one of my favorite ballplayers too. Couldn't shoot a lick but he was a helluva defender. Hard-worker and smart also.

This has got to be the most offensive statement I have ever seen on this board. I hope you rot in hell 6,000,000 times to trivialize the Holocaust in this manner. And if you think I'm overreacting, why don't you ask my great grandparents. Oh wait, you can't. They died in the Holocaust.

I'd like to tell you what I really think of you but I don't want to sink to your pathetic level.

You know, JRut, for someone who's signoff line is "Peace," you often take a brow-beating stance. I think I'm entitled to disagree with you and even roll my eyes once in a while without being told to leave. Tell you what, from now on I'll just praise your unique insight. Can I stay now?
