Kick Ball?

Rolling ball is trapped by A1 using the bottom of the foot to stop ball. I called a kick ball. Never seen it.

Good call.

Intentionally striking the ball with any part of the foot or leg is a violation. Since it wasn't an accident, it's a violation

M&M has it right just as you did, intentionally using the foot or leg is the key.
there are too many calls made where a pass is thrown at a foot already on the floor that are being called kicked balls

And plays where the dribbler loses control while moving and the ball strikes his foot (rather than the other way around). Play on.

You're wrong. If he intentionally grabbed it with his HAND, then you could give a yellow card.

Wait, this is the basketball forum, sorry.

It's a game that children play until they figure out how to catch and dribble. It's useful for initiating competitive instincts and for, well, for, ummm. I'm sure there's something else.

Just to bring the rulebook (gasp!) into this, 9-4 states "A player shall not . . . intentionally kick [the ball]."

Please note that there is nothing limiting a kick violation to just being called against the defense.

Very good point, Mark. I hear this way too often that this can only be called on the defense. Just another one of those rules myths.
