What's your favorite PDA?

A few years ago I used a Palm m130 to keep my schedule. I liked it.
It was easy, quick and fit easily in my shirt pocket (looked a tad nerdy though.)

Then it was stolen from my truck.

Replaced it with a HP ipaq rx3115. I don't like it. I really don't need a hand held pc. It's just too much.

I've thought of getting a "smart" phone but I like my old motorola flip and I'm concerned of the "too much" aspect.

I'm about to go on ebay to buy another m130 and thought of asking you guys if you can convince me that there's a better solution for keeping a schedule digitally.

I just use Microsoft Outlook and a Palm Pilot. The Palm is no frills. Heck, it's not even color, it's B/W. I don't even know which model it is. But it does the job, which is all I need.

My wife and I work for the same school system, so I share my Outlook calendar with her. She can pull it up from her desktop and know what nights I have games, clinics, meetings, etc. And I don't have to hear, "Where's yourgame tonight?" every morning that I walk out with my bag.

Between Outlook and the Palm, I'm all set.

I never got around to synching up with Outlook. I should though, when I get my new gizmo. My wife too works for the same school district; same school actually, and would benefit from seeing my schedule when she has the urge.

I use a pocket PC...Dell Axim X5 (one of the first ones). It's held up very well and is more than I need (for what I use it for). It integrates well with outlook.

I use the Day Timer and outlook. I used a tugsten E at one time, but If you don't synch frequently and you loose the battery charge on the PDA, now you are SOL. Just a day timer works fine, Although lately I just print out my schedule from Arbiter..

I use the Palm Tungsten E. Its not too bulky and does everything I need to do. I have a program I installed that lets me transfer and use Microsoft Word and Excel Files. I haven't had problems with battery charging, but if you loose information on the PDA, it is retained in your computer and can be retrieved easiely when you sync them.

I keep game schedules and all my contact numbers on it.

I use a Palm T/X with a 2GB SD card, so it doubles as an MP3 player and Video viewer. It has Bluetooth and WiFi, so you can surf the net at any WiFi hotspot and synch up without using a cradle.

I've got a one hour subway commute, so it comes in handy. You can even view PDA files with the Palm Acrobat reader, so you can download eBooks and NCAA rule books, if you'd like.

Best bang for the buck of any toy I've purchased. Unqualified recommendation.

The first five years or so of reffing, I used the little Hallmark "Monthly Planners" with cute little kittens or puppies on the cover. They come in the mail with the solicitations for donations to various charities ( I never donated to them, so the planners didn't cost me anything!). The nice thing about them is that they don't take batteries, and require very little juking around to get out and look at. They didn't make my shirt pocket look nerdy, and as long as I used ball point ink, nothing ever got lost into the ozone.

Now my husband has "given" me a Palm Handspring. It's taken a LOT of getting used to. I'm still not sure I really like it. It's annoying that it takes AAA batteries, and it isn't rechargable, and it doesn't have any back up power. So if it physically takes too long to get those little boogers out and the new ones in, I LOSE EVERYTHING. So I had better have backed the whold thing up on my desktop tie-in software. UGH!!

I really think I may go back to the cute little kittens, wallet size Hallmark thing this year.

I use a fairly simple Palm Zire and sync it with Outlook both at home and at the office. This, in effect, gives me two "backups".
