We are in the Dog days of summer. When most of the summer action is winding down and everyone else begins to think of football. What are you doing to get your bodies in shape for the comming season?

For me, Since I am back in Texas living close to my father who was my college cross-country coach. I've started running again. Hopefully, I can get about 20 lbs off before the season starts.

Is this the chance for me to promote the positive side of summer rec (ie "junk") ball? I've run about 3 days a week since the middle of march, and I really don't feel I have too much catch up to do....except sharpen up my mechanics again

Bicep curls! If you use the other hand to lift a hotdog,
hamburger or sausage pizza you can maximize your workout.

One night a week of summer rec, to stay somewhat sharp. Two to three nights of bicycle riding with my kids or women whomever is available. This is the first time I've ridden to stay in shape. I think it's working, I've gained no weight this summer !!

I have a treadmill in my family room. I walk on it while watching television. Usually, I walk for a one-hour show while drinking a bottle of water. The time goes very quick that way and I don't even notice the walking.

Personally, keeping my legs and cardiovascular in shape in the summer makes all the difference in the fall.

Oh yeah - trying to deal with my wife's "logic" and yelling at her keeps me in shape to deal with coaches.

I am staying active in all sorts of ways....
Chasing pretty girls,
Running from the Police,
Curling massive weights (12 ounces at a time)!

I thought I asked a serious question. So here has been my routine.

Running off my mouth.
Stabbing in the back.
Jumping to conclusion.
Pushing my friends around.

It was serious Tim, but after all this is our "silly season".

To be honest I won't get serious about conditioning until mid september. This will include jogging in the park, treadmill, stationary bike with lot 'o hills, and a rowing machine. Drop the excess weight and build the cardio. Didn't do enough of either last year I felt it the first couple of weeks.

I could do all of this now but it would interfere with my golf game, plus have you noticed the weather lately? The heat index is supposed to be pushing triple digits here (for all you metric users that means it is freaking HOT!)

My last summer lacrosse game was last week and I had to crawl off the field. One man lacrosse is enough "in summer" conditioning for me.

My weight problem is a lack of it. Consequently, I lift weights 3x week and do cardio workout 3x a week to keep up stamina. Also work a local pro/am league to keep my basketball eye.

The workouts have helped. I have put on 20 lbs of muscle in 2 yrs and dropped my body fat below 8%.
