Their is no call " over the back" Often times it is a push. If a player is displaced then I call it, but I call it a push not over the back. If someone can reach up go over someones back with out touching them and grab a ball more power to him.

When they put "over the back" in the rulebook I will call it. Until then there is such thing as verticality. Unless someone causes contact that affects a player's verticality, then you should never have a foul. A player can always come from behind and even have contact if the verticality rule is not violated.

Peace

Cool

Yeah I can see it now. It didn't feel right calling it when I had a guy who is like 6'3 and a guy who is 5' nothing. Thanks

Bud

What's the line from the old paper towel commercial?

Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy!

(Granted, this is coming from someone who would never consider doing football because it involves being out in the weather...)

What was up? It was COLD!!!!! And I'm the one constantly having to catch the ball in those cold conditions.

But I did remove them later. You'd be amazed how much those lights and moving around warm you up.

Fonzzy and Rut nailed it. OTB does not exsist. Don't call it and for Heaven's sake don't use the over the back-monkey arms mechanic that I still see occasionally. I have to admit, when I hear a partner report an "over the back", I get a little suspect of their officiating skills. I'm the same way with "reach", just a pet peeve.

I know...just bustin your chops a little bit. Our last game of the season last fall was Nov. 5th. Pouring down rain, high of 39 degrees that day...it was freezing! At least you guys out there get to move around some - I have to stay in that stupid "box" the whole time!
