A new count would begin.

Thanks! I have been giving a new count only because I hadn't heard any protesting from coaches. The only reason why I ask is because of a situation I saw in a college game. The offense was bringing up the ball in the backcourt, were struggling and then asked for a timeout. The announcer was looking at the 35 second clock and it was down to 30 and he said they have only 5 seconds to bring the ball into the forecourt. They got it there at 24 seconds and the announcer kept harping on that they should have gotten the 10 second violation call. Are the rules different for college? Just curious...

reluctant, read the rule. It says there must be continuous control. If there's a TO, then control ends. New count.

I believe the only place this is applicable is in the NBA rules.

P.S. Don't let the announcers be your guide to rules knowledge. Ever seen the Monster.com commercials about the monkeys?
