While I will never advocate using most NBA mechanics in a NF game, I can tell you that after my experience learning NBA stuff that you can take certain things away from it and you will be able to ref anygame better.
I learned Strong side officiating long before it was even mentioned in the HS game. There are lots of things in the nBA book just to make you think about plays, professionalism, etc
