Two years ago....another BIG GAME. My assigner is front row mid-court. B ahead by 1....3 seconds left. A1 shooting bonus. I walk over and say,

"Tuck it in #7."

He says,

"I can't Ref...."

I go over and say,

"Why not?"

The kids says,

"Ref...I got a Protruding Coccyx. Had it all my life."

I go over and look....sure enough the kid had a 6" tail. I had read about them. Kinda rare but not real unusal. The kid's nervous....it's kind of waggin'.

I had seconds to handle the situation before my assigner sent me back to the Prison Rec League. (I didn't mind the Minimum Security players but the Lifers never stop for a whistle.)

I decided to over-look the Rule. Luckily, the kid air-balled the free throw and B's Coach withdrew his Protest.

Wrong.

You shoulda asked him if he had a official note from the state proctologist.

Of course, I'd make the U2 read the note. I ain't handling it.
