Correctable errors

This is a difficult question to word (for me anyway).

For a correctable error to be corrected, an official must be aware of the error to correct it. (Basic but neccessary for this question). The scorer and timer are officials. Does their knowledge of a correctable error meet the requirement of an official's knowledge even though the court official may not be aware of a correctable situation until past the deadball/liveball limitation?

I would say yes. They are part of the officiating crew as well. A good table is the best thing in the world!

The majority of the correctable errors I have witnessed (thank god I haven't been a part of one.. knocking on my desk) the table has alerted the officials of the error.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Are you asking whether it can still be corrected after the second live ball since the timer recognized the error before that?

If that's what you're asking, the answer is no. The error must be corrected before the first dead ball becomes live after the clock has properly started. If the scorer knew about it, but didn't tell the officials in time, tough luck.

It has to be not only recognized but also addressed. The timer/scorer must yell, buzz, jump up and down or whatever, to see to it that the error is dealt with. It's okay for them to wait until during that first dead ball. Then they should make noise until the floor refs deal with it.
