had a good question asked of me:
B1 fouls A1, Team A takes ball OOB. Team A scores basket, team B brings ball in and is dribbling up court, Buzzer sounds and we are informed that A1 should of shot bonus free throw from foul... Now we haven't had an "ACTUAL dead ball live ball", but we have had a basket scored and the ball picked up and thrown in by Team B...... Too late for a correctable error or not???? I'm thinking that the basket by team A may be first dead ball and first live ball would be when team b picks ball up to throw in...is that not considered dead ball live ball??? if too late, play resumes with team b oob. if correctable, what would be the correct procedure??? ??points good that were scored, A1 shoots bonus throw/throws, team b oob?? just making sure

What is an ACTUAL live ball? This emphasises the importance of knowing defintitions and not use incorrect terms.
For example; I hear officials say to a sub. next dead ball. Ding wrong answer for playing. It is next whistle. Dead balls occur all the time. Once the ball goes through the hoop on the score ball is dead. Plain and simple. Seems there can be no correction Clock ran, ball be came live, ball went dead, ball went live. thanks for replies
didn't mean to put it that way when i said "actual" should of put "a dead ball caused by a whistle", i have had people arguing with me that it's not a dead ball because the clock is still running...that cracks me up (rule 6-7-1)!!! thought i was telling them right, just had to make sure with the knowledge of the master officials on hear, before i really started arguing with them!
