That was the title of the autobiography of Alex Hawkins, who played-mainly as a receiver- with the Baltimore Colts in the 60's. I read it a long time ago. He was pretty much a wild man- loved partying. He used the line to his wife after one of his all-night sessions. She asked him in the morning whereinthehell he had been all night. Alex told her that he got home around midnight, didn't want to wake her, so he slept on a couch out on the back porch. His wife then informed him that the couch on the back porch had been hauled off over a month before. His reply was "well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it". And that's what he ended up using as the title for his book. Funny book from a fun-loving guy.
