Thought you might be interested in the standings from the first year of the NBA. This was the year the BAA and the NBL merged. Gee - I wonder why Sheboygan and Waterloo weren't able to continue to support teams?

Isn't it obvious - they were both under .500.

(Ok - so why does Chicago continue to support teams?...)

Hey, be nice. The Bulls were over .500 this year. The Cubs and Sox are both over .500 this year. The Blackhawks haven't lost a game in over a year. I'd say Chicago is doing just fine.

Ok, ok, I know.

I'm just one of those grumpy Chicago fans who wants to sacrifice a goat every chance I get. I guess the longer I live the harder it is to listen to those Cardinal fans. (I'd also include White Sox fans, but they only come out of the woodwork once a decade, so I can live with that. ;)) And my memories of the Jorden-led Bulls, and the '84 Bears are fading...fading...fading...

As opposed to.....1908.....for that other team in the same city.

But who's counting?

Bwahahahahaha............

Mark, you might also ask why Syracuse and Rochester franchises folded. I believe Syracuse franchise moved to another city. Not sure about Rochester. I know back in those days they had a regional draft. East coast players could only be drafted by East coast teams. Best players were generally in the East. All of that has changed. Also snow-ins at Syracuse and Rochester must have become a drag for the teams and fans. Thoughts?

Syracuse moved to Philly and became the 76ers. Rochester moved to Cincinnati.

Thanks for the info JR. Seems upstate NY can't keep a team there - Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester. Albany (Patroons) had a good pro (not NBA) team back in the late 80's and early 90's coached by none other than Phil Jackson. Mario Elie played for them. It folded. I'm a transplanted NYer in Columbus, GA and miss going to NBA games once in a while.

Now, the scary part is I'm old enough to remember some of the early Bulls teams as an expansion franchise (the Chicago Stags listed either moved somewhere else or folded). Players such as Jerry Sloan, Tom Boerwinkle, Bob Love and Chet Walker made watching b-ball fun in Chicago.

M&M, was that before Chet "The Jet" played for the 76er's?
My favorite team of all time was the "67" (or was it "66) sixers.
Chet "The Jet" Walker
Wally "By Golly" Jones
Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain
Hal GRRRREEER
and "Luscious" Lucius Jackson
with Billie "The Kid" Cunnningham off the bench.
Also loved their announcer. Better than Johnny Most anyday!

Am I showing my age or what????

Actually, I think it was after. I had to search for it, but the first Bulls team was '67-'68, and I remember Chet "The Jet" around '70 or '71.

Yea, you are old. Me, I just remember reading about those teams.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. ;)

[/B][/QUOTE]Ah, a great book from an old NFL Colt. Baltimore Colts that is, not Indianapolis.

That was the title of the autobiography of Alex Hawkins, who played-mainly as a receiver- with the Baltimore Colts in the 60's. I read it a long time ago. He was pretty much a wild man- loved partying. He used the line to his wife after one of his all-night sessions. She asked him in the morning whereinthehell he had been all night. Alex told her that he got home around midnight, didn't want to wake her, so he slept on a couch out on the back porch. His wife then informed him that the couch on the back porch had been hauled off over a month before. His reply was "well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it". And that's what he ended up using as the title for his book. Funny book from a fun-loving guy.

More useless trivia brought to you by JR.
