Greys look better on film.
Greys do show sweat spots a little.
Whites are more durable.

SocalRef-

Does CA really have a shot clock for boys and girls? If that is true, then perhaps it is time for the rest of the country to follow the lead of California for a change. Ridiculous taxes, bad business laws, crazy energy regulations. . .but a shot clock for high school basketball could make it a desirable place for me.

We have them as an alternate in Vermont. I like them and probably wore them about 1/3 of the time. They were used in the tournament in 2004 as an experiment. I've seen some guys wear them one game and zebras the next.

A favorite trick among 3 man crews is to have the crew chief say they are going with stripes and when one guy goes into the bathroom the other 2 don the gray [with stripes] real quick and get their jackets on. They let the other guy get ready and then they unzip the jackets just before it is time to head out.

The officials at our state tournament wore them and I think they look sharp. My wife thought so as well. Rumor is that my state (WA) is going to make it optional for the associations to adopt them. No complaints from me. Peace.
No surprise. Another shot clock state! :)

We only have a shot clock in the girls game...I wish they would put the boys on one also. The game needs it bad IMHO. Peace.

If enough states adopt the shot clock and/or the gray shirt, the NFHS will have no choice but to follow suit.

Shot clock = good
gray shirts = bad

If the entire country went to grey shirts I don't even think we would be worrying about it. The main issue with the grey shirts are they show sweat and the manufacturers need to all have the same color.

Sweat?

Don't any of you guys wear t-shirts when reffing? What's all this talk about sweat showing? The only time it's a problem is going shirtless underneath.

You're right! socalref....

I am a real "perspirer" and have worn the "micro-softer" mesh gray shirt without "sweatshow". I wear the McDavid Hdc Compression V-Neck shirt underneath and remain "cool & comfy"!

I wasn't speaking for myself. I wear Underarmour or Nike compression underneath. I thought about this because Donnee Gray is the JUCO assigner for Maryland and he specifically told everyone to bring two shirts so you can change at halftime if sweat is showing. I don't have to change but my partner forgot his shirt my first game last season and we are about the same size. :D

JL....

Straight from the WOA Commissioner's mouth......Association are approved to wear the next year......Both officials must have the same shirt......

For the others.........At the Washington State Tourney this last year each official was given one with our state patch embroidered on them.......The comments I heard were all positive........

Thanks Ron...I'll amke sure my partner has one : ) Peace.
