What are some funny ones you've seen or heard of? I know there are some good ones out there. Like Lewisville Texas, just outside of Dallas, they're the Lewisville Fighting Farmers. Let's stick to HS. I know there some funny names for Minor League ball.

We have a local team out here nicknamed the Muckers.

Of course, that makes the moms of the kids--- mother muckers!

Illinois High School names

Freeport and New Berlin Pretzels.

Rochelle Hubs (Hub of the community)

There are some others names. These are what I remember off the top of my head.

Peace

U.P.date

ESPN and the Tonight Show highlighted the Watersmeet Nimrods (U.P. of Michigan) last year.

The Nimrods made it through the districts and are headed here to Houghton this week to play in the Regionals. Regional winners go to the Michigan quarterfinals.

I went to school in Rochelle til my Dad's company transfered us to Houston. I forgot about that. We were "the Hub" of the district. In Jr High we were The Hublets.

My wife's college roommate went to high school in Missouri (I forget the town). The built a new high school and let the students come up with the team name. They came up with the "Kewpies", like in kewpie doll.

Small world. I have officiated this school for the past 4 years. I had them on the road my last regular season game this year. I have even officiated at this school for football for a few years.

Peace

That would be Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri.

One of my favorites is from across the river in Illinois...Teutopolis High School, home of the Wooden Shoes.

Of course, here in central IL we are blessed with several towns that have unusual names. Close by, there are the Fisher Bunnies. Yep, even the football team uses that. Then a little further south is the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes (former Dutch community), and don't forget about the Hoopeston Corn Jerkers. In fact, Thad Motta, the current Ohio State coach, is a former Corn Jerker. (Or can you ever be a "former" Corn Jerker?)

Here in WA State we have the Davenport "Gorillas", and the Toutle Lake "Fighting Ducks"...never have figured out what a fighting duck is supposed to be...of course we also have an NAIA college called the Evergrees State "Geoducks" - it's pronounced "gooey-ducks" and it's a really big clam...

It's a town of about 8000 people and everyone used to come out and support basketball and football. I moved away 20 years ago and have only been thru Rochelle twice since then.

I had a friend that worked for a newspaper in northern California. One of the teams they covered was the Hollister Haybalers.

I've officiated games for the Fisher Bunnies. By the way, the Jr High mascot is the Scotties (the dog).

Where are you from M&M?
