Portlanders, correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't the OES players Aardvarks?

While many names in and of themselves may not be funny I find many names funny when proceeded by LADY. We have the LADY Rams, (shouldn't they be the Ewes?) We have the LADY Savages (Seems an oxymoron) The LADY Cowboys (Perhaps should be the Cowgirls), The LADY Steers (maybe should be the heifers) Here in Oklahoma we also have the Alva Goldbugs, The Haskell Haymakers, The Berryhill Maidens and best of all the Hooker Horny Toads

More Mascots

North Hampton, Pennsylvania "Concrete Kids", big concrete plant in town.

Nebraska: "Cropdusters"

Oregon Teams

Here in Oregon we have the....
Glide Drexlers
Bend Overs
Winchester Cathedrals
Scio Narras
Maupin Glows

(And this one is real) Oakland Oakers - Mascot is an acorn
If you can believe it, unlike Eagles and Bulldogs, there is only one Oaker team in all of Oregon. State 2A Boys Champions for 2005-06.

OES is Oregon Episcopal School. I believe their nickname is the Episcopaloozers.

The University of Oregon has a fighting duck for a mascot. If their mascot ever had to fight the one from Oregon State, I'm not sure who would win - a duck or a beaver. Neither one really strikes fear into one's heart.

At least Portland State is the Vikings.

Disagree. I've seen some beavers that were absolutely terrifying,

Yup. That's why they were terrifying.

My personal favorite is the Effingham Flaming Hearts-it's my alma mater. It comes from the fact that at one time way way back in the day the population center of the US was located a few miles West (or maybe East - I don't remember) of town. :D
I do believe that the nickname has been changed or updated since then. I think that it was changed to Fighting Hearts. Whether that was an official change, I don't remember. Then the word "Fighting" was dropped. Now, I think that it is just the "Hearts". However it's been over 20 years since I was last there. But, there was a great rivalry between the Hearts, the Wooden Shoes, and the St Anthony Bulldogs (also located in Effingham).
Also, I'm not sure that I saw the Centralia Orphans mentioned.

What do Flaming Hearts have to do with being the population center? I don't get the connection. Of course, I don't get a lot of things. Please clarify. Thanks.
