A question came up in our association from a game situation this week.
A1 is dribbling in the backcourt, passes the ball to A2. A2 jumps from the frontcourt, catches the pass and lands in the backcourt. Rulings and comments are welcome....... |

If the pass is caught in the air and then A2 lands in the backcourt, it's a violation. A2 has front court status when he catches the ball in the air -- therefore the him and the ball have FC status, when he lands in the backcourt with the ball he now has backcourt status -- therefore a violation.
Edit: Clarfied a little more [Edited by tjones1 on Feb 18th, 2005 at 04:32 PM] |

tjones beat me to it, but he nailed it. Plaer has frontcourt status so when he caught the pass and landed..... TWEET

Another tweak - Instead of catching the ball, the airborne player bats the ball to the floor, beginning his dribble, with the ball bouncing in the backcourt, before he lands in the backcourt. BC or not?
