I've never worked less than two in a season, and usually more. Perhaps our system is setup differently here.
When you are assigned a playoff game here, you are assigned a Regional. Every team plays in the playoffs here so there can be 6 to 8 teams in each Regional. In Class A (small schools) there are more teams. In the Class A Regionals they assign two crews. One of the crews will work the championship. The other crew will probably work one of the semifinals. Usually each crew will at the very least work two games. Now there are times there might be conflicts, so a particular official might work one game if for some reason they cannot work another day.

In Class AA (big schools) there are not as many teams. The last few years they have assigned one crew for the entire Regional. I worked 4 games in my regional last year. I also had one more team than most. But everyone assigned (unless some kind of conflict) had a least 3 games.

Officials that work a Sectional (all regional champions) will work at least one game. They will get two games if they work the Championship of the Sectional. There are two crews assigned to work the 3 games.

The Super-Sectional is just one game and the level that determines who advances to the State Finals in Bloomington (Girl's) or Peoria.

State Final officials that get to that level will work 2 games no matter what. They assign 4 crews (12 officials). Everyone works on Friday which is the first day and the quarterfinal round. On Saturday the officials work one game. They will either work one of the semi-final games or they will work the 3rd place game or the Championship game.

Peace

In northern VA, we do sort of the same as what JRut mentioned. We have 3 classifications (A, AA, & AAA) and we play districts, regionals, then states.

Every team plays in district tourney with the losers being through for the year. All assignments are made by our scholastic assignor. I worked a AA girls district tourney last night and I have the clock on a AAA girls doubleheader tonight. I have another district game tomorrow, and another AAA girls doubleheader clock on Friday. District tourneys end on Friday. Regional tournaments start next Tuesday (2/22) and finish on 2/26. State quarter finals start on or about 1-2 March and all state finals take place at the Siegel Center in Richmond on 12 March. There will be A girls/boys, AA girls/boys and AAA girls/boys games on the 12th. We will have games at 11, 1, 3, 5, 7, & 9. I plan to be there for all 6 games.

My association sends the Virginia High School League (VHSL) a list of 10-12 (I think) officials for consideration for state level games. The VHSL makes the assignments - coaches have absolutely no input. I believe that we have to sit out a year after going 3 years. Our officials cannot officiate a quarter final/semi final state level game with teams from the 2 regions we cover. We have guys go to the beach area and officials from central VA or southwest VA come up and do quarter finals in our neck of the woods.

First, Congrats on the tourney assignment Ron.

Second, I'm not sure if the girl's association around here is sending anyone to the B this year. I just belong to the boy's association...we are separate associations, however an official may choose to have dual memberships if he/she wishes.

Third, You heard correctly. The B tournament is a blast! I did the boy's side, at the B, two years ago and the game management people really know how to put on a tournament. The Spokane Coliseum is a beautiful facility and the fans are real down to earth people. They love their basketball and usually the whole town turns out for the games.

Fourth, I was looking forward to meeting you at the 4A in Tacoma this year. (Also, looking forward to meeting Kevin...a poster on this forum) Do you know who will be doing the boy's side this year?
