I was watching a varsity game the other night where just this thing happened. A veteran official whistled on an OOB. His very words were "I'm not sure who's ball it is so we'll give it to Blue. They're behind" It was late in the game and about 35 points difference. This official is well known in the area as being very good, but also very laid back.
