If you don't call it, you will get coaches yelling at you. However, it is absolutely the correct no-call. One of the four elements needed for a backcourt violation is team control. If any of the four elements are missing, there is no violation.

There is no team control during a throw-in. During a period of no team control, team control is established by a player gaining player control. Player control is defined as holding or dribbling a live ball inbounds. A pass hitting a player or deflecting off a player does not establish player control, therefore no team control (if it didn't exist at the time).
