Big East fan here. Cincinnati, Louisville, DePaul and Marquette additions should make them the best conference IMHO. And THANK GOD they are getting rid of Boston College! Wannabe crybabies...hows that for name calling. Oops, must be my love for Providence College coming out. Speaking of the Friars, boy was I disappointed with their performance in the Tourny.

It's diffuclt to understand how the Big East can sue Miami and the ACC and then turn around and invite teams from COnference USA to join the BE. I mean, how is that different from the ACC inviting the football schools to join.
And I agree that the Big East will once again be tremendously strong in basketball, the way they were in the late 80's. |

BktBall - I said I was a Big East fan, not a Big East Conference Commissioner fan. You have a very valid point. But they have made other poor decisions, such as having the top 4 conference teams in the pre season rankings play each other twice and get all that TV exposure and show the "second" tier teams on TV maybe twice all season. That kind of blew up in their faces when Seton Hall and Providence were beating the likes of UConn, Syracuse and Pitt.

win baby! Which goes to answering HawksCoach: the BE was seeded lower than ACC teams and beat higher seeds. The ACC was seeded higher and tended to lose over the last two years. That would make the ACC overated and the BE underrated. I think UConn is something like 19-0 against lower seeds. Duke has lost to lower seeded UConn twice. And I'm all for having fun! You can call me rook and make fun of "Billy" as a screen name and I'll call you "ACC FANBOY". Cool. But hey, when did Rut ever stick to the facts? No, your more like Rut than me and I thought to say it first. Nahnah! ;-) |

For example, in an earlier post, you wrote, "I guess the big east is the best confrence (3 for 6)." Well big whoop! I can counter that with that the ACC is 2 for 4. You wrote, "Each team had three in the sweet sixteen, but at that level the ACC didn't win a game over a big east oppenent." That's true, can't argue that. But there were no BE/ACC matchups in the Sweet 16! Could that be why the ACC didn't beat a BE team "at that level?" DUH! A #2 beating a #1 or a #5 beating a #4 is not that big of a deal. It happens quite often. Seeding is a guessing game to begin with. Yeah, UConn beat Duke and GT in the Final Four. They should have, as they were the best team. But who did UConn's two non-conference losses come from? North Carolina and Georgia Tech. Those are facts too. So yeah, we can quote facts all day. In the end, it don't mean a thang. |

Speaking of the Friars, boy was I disappointed with their performance in the Tourny After Maris Lafka left the team to play professional basketball in Europe near the end of season, they ended the season on a losing streak.
