Yeah, I see your point. BTW, how many RBIs did Sheffield have last night?

Good question.

BTW, how many WS have the Red Sox been in this century...

...let's take a look...

Heeheeheehee.....

Btw, not to be critical, and knowing that we didn't do it either, but can't anybody figger out that if you have a one legged pitcher, maybe- just maybe- you oughta bunt a little on him?

So the Sox haven't been in the Series in their last 20 years. The Yankees weren't in the Series in their first 20 years. So what? They're both irrelevant. JR wants to talk smack about Manny. My only point is that at least Manny's still playing, while New York is resting on its laurels from years past

The Red Sox are only 20 year old??

Someone should tell Bucky Dent.

I just finished up Logic class for the day; you're going to have to do better than that. You talked about "this century". I grant you "this century" plus about 16 more years. Sox haven't even been in a World Series. But the Yankees weren't even [/i]in[/i] a World Series while the Sox were winning 5 of the first 15 of them, over a similar roughly-20-year period to open the previous century. Neither point is relevant to the bottom line, which is. . .

that the Sox are still playing this year, while the Yankees are not, which is enormously satisfying. Addtionally, the Yankees are not playing as a direct result of the Red Sox, which is even more satisfying. But not quite satistying enough. Nine down. . .

When I said "this century" I meant *THIS* century, ie the century we now find ourselves in ie the years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2004.

Obviously you mistook my use of the term *THIS* century to mean *LAST* century, which is understandable...I guess...and explains why you are so obsessed with the years in & around World War 1.

Anywho, now that we've gotten that mess cleared up...the bottom line remains if you give enough monkeys with enough typewrites enough time one of them will eventually recreate every lyric ever written by Neil Sedaka, in chronological order.

The point being if the obvious historical trends continue we won't have to wait long for NY to have another WS appearance...something not as easily said for team Red Sox.

Told ya that it feels good, didn't I?

Btw, what's do Manny and Michael Jackson have in common?
Answer: They both wear a glove for no real reason!

Q: Why did Michael Jackson go to K Mart?
A: He heard they had small boys pants half off.

Q: What does Michael Jackson think of when he sees a boy in a McDonald's suit?
A: A happy meal.

Q: Why does Michael Jackson want to move to Ohio?
A: He heard there's a Youngstown there.

I did not mistook it! I said that the Sox haven't been in the World Series in "this century" plus 16 years. That would be blatently false if I were talking about the 20th century.

So that's where all those posts from "Dan_ref" come from!!

That may be true, but that's not the point. That's what New York fans say instead of the Cubbies' refrain of "We'll get 'em next year." The point, indeed the point of the entire baseball season, is to play in (and win) the World Series this year. The Red Sox may; the Yankees won't. For once, Red Sox fans don't have to talk about waiting for another shot.

I didn't want to gloat. I intended my only gloat to be the Sheffield reference after you bad-mouthed Manny. But Dan goaded me into pointing out the obvious.

I liked the feeling of winning the series about 1,000,000 times more than talking about it afterwords. Gloating is overrated by people who win. Winning is underrated by people who lose.

Hardy-har-har. Let's see, I heard this with Chuck Knobloch's name instead of Manny's; I heard this with Bill Buckner's name instead of Manny's; maybe even Canseco, after the ball bounced off his head for a HR. . .

Somebody needs new material.

The team members say "give him another chance!" The teacher says, "OK, what is 3x3?" Manny says 9, and the rest of the Red Sox say "give him another chance, give him another chance!"

Albert Einstein is at a party and he's surrounded by a small crowd of admirers. He introduces himself to the first member of the group, and asks, "What is your IQ?"

The man answers, "191."

"Wonderful!" says Einstein. "We will talk about the Grand Unification Theory and the mysteries of the universe. We will have much to discuss!"

Albert then turns to a woman and asks, "What's your IQ?"

She responds, "123."

"Ah!" says Albert. "We can discuss politics and current affairs. We, too, have much to discuss!"

Einstein then notices a third member of the group and again inquires about the man's IQ. This time the answer is "62." The great physicist ponders for a moment, then brightens and says, "GO RED SOX!"

A: Who cares?

A Boston native dies and is sent to Hell. The Devil tries to make him as uncomfortable as possible, maintaining a temperature of 100 degrees, but the man does not seem to mind.

"How can you be comfortable?" the Devil asks.

"I used to spend my summers on the Cape," the man replies. "This feels just like June. I can handle this."

"Very well then," says the Devil, and he turns the heat up to 130 degrees.

"No problem," answers the man. "My studio apartment was $2000 a month, so I couldn't afford an air conditioner. This feels just like July."

"Have it your way," says the Devil, and he turns the heat up to 180 degrees.

"Big deal," says the man, still unfazed. "I used to sit in the bleachers at Fenway Park. This feels just like August."

The Devil thinks for a moment, then decides to reduce the temperature to minus-50. At this, the man smiles, and starts jumping up and down and shouting happily.

"What now?" asks the Devil.

"Hell froze over!" the man yells triumphantly. "The Red Sox must have finally won the World Series!"

You don't? I realize that you have a major advantage because La Russa is managing the Cards, but aren't you taking just a little bit for granted? The Curse lives until you win a World Series. You may be waiting for another shot yet!

No, this is our shot. Nobody, least of all me, thinks this is over. Especially since St. Louis hasn't lost at home in the playoffs. Especially since we know that a team can come back, even from 0-3. But finally, our guys get to fight for all the marbles.

Yabut, if by some weird quirk of fate(like a CURSE ), the Sox do happen to lose, aren't you and the other Red Sox fans gonna HAVE to wait for another shot? Again?

Is that logic course you're taking called "Convoluted Logic 101 for BoSox Fans"? With "Convoluted Logic 201 for BoSox Fans" only being planned to be put on the curriculum IF or WHEN they ever win a World Series?
