Tony LaRussa? THE Tony LaRussa? The guy that wone ONE(1)(uno)(ein) World Series in Oakland when he shoulda won 4/5 in a row with the team he had? And also never won anything else in his life? Ever? That Tony LaRussa?

Not my favorite manager- fer sure. Every year he moans and whines about all the other teams throwing at his poor players. And every year his teams either lead or are usually in the Top 5 in hitting players on the other team. And all that kissy/feely stuff about stray dogs and cats? Wassup with that? Hell, a lot of us love stray dogs and cats. They are delicious.

Bah, humbug!

I live about 25 miles from St. Helen's (as the crow flies), and it's nothing major - yet! Went off again this morning, but so far no magma involved...mostly steam and small amounts of ash...and as far as the baseball playoffs go, all I can say is I-Chi-Ro!! I-Chi-Ro!!! It's the small victories that we cling to in a season like this last one...

Calm down calm down calm down....now, go back & reread what I wrote. I'll wait here the half hour or so it'll take you to comprehend it.

tick tick tick tick tick....

Oh great! You're back! OK....now, did you happen to see I picked your favorite manager to yet again not win it all?

But you have to agree LaRussa has a lot more experience not winning it than...errr...Walter Alston...? No that's not it...Tommy Lasorda...??? No no, not him either...well, anyway, LaRussa's got a lot more expererience not winning it than (whoeverthehellismanagingthedodgersthesedays) has at managing period.

I've been sticking up for Manny for the last couple years. I hope you mean this as a joke, b/c if not, you just really don't have any idea about him. He is a different personality, no question. But he is just as dedicated and wants to win just as much as anybody on the Yankees. In New York, you probably don't get to see how hard he's worked on his defense and how much improved his "hustle" is. Yes, he's overpaid (even by MLB standards), but any team would be happy to have him. And if they say they wouldn't, then they're lying or stupid. JMHO, as always.

[/B][/QUOTE]1) Somebody help me out here, please. I'm not sure, but I'm getting just the tiniest,weeniest-teeniest inkling that maybe my ol' buddy just mighta dumped all over me. Do ya think that that might be a possibility?

2) LaRussa has got a LOT more experience at winning ONE World Series than ANY RedSox manager since 1918.

3) Duh! Because they are delicious?

Chuck, did you see the story in the Boston Globe this morning? Apparently Manny has gone back to the Dominican for his fall vacation. The BoSox are hoping that he might return by Tuesday. If not Tuesday, then maybe Wednesday. Or Thursday.

PS- Dan? You don't want to see Chuck mad. It is a fearsome, nay dare I say dangerous, sight!

Yeah, I've heard that!

In fact there was a rumor going around at camp that CHuck got so mad at a coach he actually crushed an entire grape with his bare hands during dinner after the game.

btw, how long have you been holding onto that link?

No. And I just searched ESPN.com and the Globe's website. You got a link?

The bay area Giants and A's both miss out on post-season play by a single game and end the season with identical 91-71 records. Strange stuff!

I saw him taking BP in Anaheim last night. I get it. You're yankin' my chain. That's what I get for trusting an old Yankee-loving, Vioxx-popping codger!! :p

Saw in the Washington Post that Melvin(?) was fired yesterday after Mariners had their worst season in 12 years.

My son lives in Olympia and he is a big Mariners fan. During one of my visits 2-3 years ago, the Mariners were having a terrific year. Everywhere we went, I wore my Yankees cap and people were just dogging me left and right. I usually responded by asking them the last time the Mariners won the WS -- in fact, when was the last time they were actually in the WS. No more comments from them. My kids never agree with me. They are both Skins fans and I'm Cowboys, one is Mariners fan other is Orioles fan and I'm Yankees, both are Lakers and I'm Celtics. See Chuck, I'm do root for a Boston team.

After all these years, I'm amazed when you believe ANYTHING that I say. :D

Btw, is it true what Dan told me? Did you really win a contest and you're gonna be at the opening playoff game at Fenway?
