Wow, a win that we didn't have to sweat out. I feel bad for C.J. Nitkowski, tho. I've liked him since his Tiger days.

Huh. It's awful quiet in Yankee country tonight. Four in the first; three in the second. . . Sounds a little like last Saturday. I still don't think they have a realistic shot at overtaking the Yankees.

But they don't have to. Sox have the head-to-head advantage in the season series. So if they tie the Yankees for the division lead, they win the division via tie-breaker.

Brown only faced 8 batters. He'll be fresh for tomorrow.

Huh.

Maybe that's why we're so quiet?

Boy, you guys are really grasping at straws. Yanks take 2 of 3 in New York and Bosux take 2 of 3 at Fernway Park. Waitin' for the end of the week.

Sox clinched a playoff spot last night. Yankees magic number for the division is 4 with 6 games left. Should be an interesting week. Playoffs start a week from today!

Chuck,

Thanks for Nomar -
He went 3 for 3 with three runs scored last night.
Two doubles and 6 put outs, no errors.

6 games left - 3 against Cincy and Atlanta will be resting their studs at the end of the regular season.

Hugs and Kisses,

The Clown that still has an account

Maybe it's just me, but how hard can it really be to take a pitcher out of a game? Is there some Jedi mind trick that Yankee fans use on Boston managers that makes them allow Pedro to stay in a game?

We lost a pennant b/c Grady Little couldn't say "Pedro, you're done." Last night, we lost just about any shot at the division b/c Francona couldn't say "Pedro, you're done." Well, I guess he said it, b/c they had the reliever all warmed up. But then Pedro talked him into letting him start the next inning and he gives up another couple runs.

I just don't get it. Everybody in the world outside the Boston dugout knows that Pedro can not go more than 6 innings anymore. He just can't. But they keep leaving him out there to get battered. His September has been horrible. He's not going to snap out of it with 2 more innings against the Devil Rays. AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!

Hmmm... Here's some thoughts along with the buy-lines they might want to consider.

Washington Fat Cats - Hah! We got mo' money than NY!

Washington Lobbyists or the closely related Washington HO's - We'll do ANYTHING for money. Actually, we'd then have the O's and the HO's in the same region...

Washington Bureaucrats - We beat our opponents down in red-tape

Washington Optimists - Problems? Pay no attention to the record - we're winning I tell ya.

Washington Pork Barrelers - Slice 'em and dice 'em

Hey,this is fun.

On a non-Yankee/Sox topic, has anybody heard details of the Cleveland pitcher that got shot while riding on the team bus? I guess the guy was shot in the leg and the Indian trainers were able to get the bullet out. But did the shot come from outside the bus? Or inside the bus? Anybody know?
