Be honest. Did you really think that it would even get this close?
Sounds like a concession speech punctuated with "good enough" !

Hardly!! My point was that they're full of hot air, b/c they're still operating under the assumption that it's all locked up. Once you eliminate that assumption, and realize that the Sox actually have the better pitching staff for once, my scenario of a first-place team in Boston on Saturday night is not so far-fetched.

Chuck,
Well, I'm hanging with the Red Sox, cuz I am assuming that you can pick winners in baseball, too!
Looks like 15 of 16 NFL games.
Very impressive! But your best pick was Cleveland.
Attaboy!

[I think Dan's observation of Ivan the Terrible is horrible, ...but all too realistic. Good luck with that!]

Rough night for the umpires in Oakland. The fans get into a fight with the Texas team. One of the Rangers throws a folding chair into the crowd. Now the game goes extra innings. Those poor guys. I know I've been in games where I have been thinking, "Please, no OT tonight." I just wanted to get the heck outta there.

Other likely scenarios, courtesy of Ivan.
That's just like Steinbrenner! He knows he can't win with the team he's put together, so he goes and raids some Carribean club, pays a huge chunk of money for some kid with Russian parents, and the kid just happens to get called up to the bigs just as the Sox come to town. He should be run out of baseball!

At least the Yankees and BoSox don't throw chairs at the fans...just throw things at each other!

Why doesn't baseball just suspend anyone that fights, simulates fighting or comes out of the dugout during a fight?

How about security guards doing their job and ejecting unruly fans like the ones that started trouble in Oakland? Instead of cheering for their home team......

Yes, of course. One party is seldom all to blame. Fans, players, coaches, management....all play a part.

...But only fans pay the part. ;)

[/B][/QUOTE]Francisco is gonna pay big time for this one. I think that he mighta been watching a l'il too much of that WWE pro wrasslin'. The MLB Interim-Commissioner-For-Life has already thrown a major hissy fit. Yup, it's been reported that ol' Bud stomped his foot and everything. For some silly reason, he seems to think that ballplayers shouldn't throw chairs at fans. I think that you're gonna see a major fine and suspension handed out, and, as for the woman that caught the chair with her face- well, I think that she's gonna end up OWNING Francisco.

Btw, Chuckie, 4 out now.

quid pro quo tickets

"It's an American tradition," the 42-year-old fire battalion chief said of his heckling, adding that he said he and his wife bought season tickets near the visitors' bullpen just "so we can get on them on a little bit."

"It's part of going to the baseball game," Jennifer Bueno said. "I don't think he did anything wrong." - http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseb...hecklers_x.htm

Mick, you're a good guy & all, but just whatinthehell are you doing posting garbage about the Oakland A's in this off-topic thread? I wasted an entire mouse clck to come here & read what you have to say about this weekend's Yankee/Red Sox series and I get this crap??!!

C'mon...let's tighten it up a bit, OK partner?

BTW...did you hear about the Polish National Hockey team? Very sad...they all drowned during spring training.
