Welp...it doesn't look like Edwards just lifted her arms to protect herself from imminent contact. Watching the replay, even Rebecca Lobo goes "OH!" when she gives Marshall a good forearm shiver to the chest. Correct call.

Now we have to endure the tsunami of uninformed stupidity from all corners about how the "Refs screwed up".

Does time and distance apply when screening a moving opponent in college?

Doesn't really matter because of Edwards's extended arm and leg.

Good call.

And I'm a gigantic UCONN women's fan.

Great game.

I’m very pleased that this team made the Final Four without players Azzi Fudd, Ayanna Patterson, Aubrey Griffin, El Alfy, and Caroline Ducharme, all injured and out for most ot the season.

Six players spent the Final Four game on the bench in sweats.

UCONN actually had to postpone a game this season because they didn’t have enough healthy players available to suit up.

The Big East requires schools to suit up seven scholarship players for any game, and at one point in the season injuries had left the Huskies with just six active players.

Classy for both Bueckers and Auriemma not to blame the loss on one controversial call.

My position is that the Screening Rule had no bearing on the Illegal contact between B3 and W24. It was a straight out Pushing Foul by B3 against W24.

Illegal screen = correct call.
The leg is outside of the frame of the torso and the arms deliver a cross-block to the opponent.
Kudos to the official whistling that with four seconds left.
Shame on the ex-UConn players who went on SportsCenter with SVP and called the call terrible. Clear rooting interest and biased as heck.

Too bad nobody actually uses a screen properly anymore...I was taught if you were using a screen, you rubbed shoulders with the player screening for you. When you make go wide of the screener, the screener is wasting their time or will chase the defender leading to a possible illegal screen. That was 30 years ago though.

I was taught the same thing 57 years ago.

While I wasn't a great scorer, I set great screens, and correctly used screens.

Knowing this helps me to anticipate possible illegal screens when I officiate.

I have been occasionally coaching for the last 10 years and always taught players to "scrape" the screener, much like rubbing shoulders. Locally, I can't get over how many players do not properly use a screen, especially off-ball. Beautiful, legally set screens are being completed wasted.
