That play is in this series of highlights. At 1:20 specifically

I don't begrudge officials missing small shuffles when there is so much contact - but the one you are referencing is pretty egregious.

Trail needs to get this one.

I remember the first play and thinking that's an obvious travel, I was right. Don't even need to discuss the one at 1:20 of the video. Also at the 2:25 and 2:45 marks of the video I think are obvious also.

I wasn't even paying attention to see if the call was correct. I don't think they got the throw-in spot correct either, which affects the shot clock.

I think the one he was requesting happened much later. UCLA had the ball, crossed half court and the first whistle appears to be for a kicked ball in their front court.

I had asked for both, but more in regard to the throw-in spots.

A lot going on here:
  • Shot clock starts while throw-in is still being executed (you can see shot clock next to Wendy's emblem at 29 during throw-in)
  • Kicked ball occurs before shot clock hits 20
  • Gonzaga was given a back court throw-in which is incorrect since UCLA was charged with not getting the ball into their front court

"And that is a goaltend!

"And that's goaltending!"

No it's not!

I was working a HS game late this season with a retired collegiate official (now a clinician) where I called a spin move travel on a move to the basket as T. He politely excoriated me at halftime. While not the same as this play, his point was that there’s a movement at higher levels these days not to call ANY travels on moves to the basket. But watching a play like this one, I think this philosophy might be causing outside officials to swallow some absurdly obvious travels.

Maybe it’s time to move the philosophical needle a bit back to the right.

Apparently something was said because Mark Few was complaining about traveling being called on Timme vs. UConn.

Women’s game, but I’d like to see the Tennessee/Virginia Tech sequence with about 30 seconds left in the game. Tennessee player punched a VT player in the stomach and there was no call on the floor nor monitor review.

I cannot embed from my phone. First one is definitely a swing and connection with more of the wrist and forearm, followed by a delayed reaction by the VT player, and then the Tennessee player looks like she jabs her in the chest or stomach area and the VT player throws her head back and goes to the ground. Definitely don't like that no official has their eyes on that nor hangs back.
