According to early reports this happened during the post game hand shake line.

Makes me glad that most of us don't hang around after the horn to observe the hand shake line as is mandatory for our colleagues in Massachusetts.

While true (except in Massachusetts) because it happened after the officials had left the court, it very easily could have happened a few seconds before and then it would be problem for both the court officials and the site director.

Also, while not always under the direct responsibility of a court officials, sportsmanship should always be, at least, at some minimum degree of interest to basketball officials as stakeholders and as guardians of the game.

Does anyone actually believe that high school basketball officials in the San Diego area, in other parts of California, and in many other parts of the country, aren't talking about this incident and about the general decline in sportsmanship among high school basketball fans? According to many polls, it's a decline in sportsmanship at high school games that's driving many officials away from the game, and slowing down the recruitment of new officials.

This incident is just a symptom of the overall problem, and is just the tip of the iceberg.
